The Teaching School is committed to school improvement through informed outreach and a collaborative approach. We work with other schools to share strengths and expertise, innovative practice and excellent evidence based teaching practice. Schools benefit from the learning and develop sustainable improvement individualised to their setting and needs.
Our highly effective practitioners inspire creative and adventurous thinking, challenge practice and provoke innovation. We have a number of Specialist Leaders of Education (SLEs) who have expertise in every area from behaviour management, policies and systems, improving the quality of teaching, leadership coaching, curriculum development, outdoor learning, financial management, data and tracking. We also have subject and curriculum specialists, system leaders and Lead Practitioners who are available to lead on good practice and improvement strategies.
School to school support will be transformational, culture changing and mutually beneficial.
We have details of our school improvement leaders on the Teaching Schools South West website which is continually being updated. This can be found by clicking on ‘find a practitioner’ – search for us by then selecting ‘provider’ or ‘find a course’ – all our courses will also be listed on our events page on this website.
Teaching Schools are responsible for recruiting, brokering, deploying and quality assuring their SLEs. SLE’s are designated by the National College for Teaching and Learning. If you are interested in applying or have staff who may be suitable, do get in touch for further information.
